File, upload for assessment

You can upload any file type you like into learn.gold.  When it is accessed it will automatically be downloaded to your machine.  Please be aware that learn.gold does not read the files, so you need to be sure that the person downloading the file understands that they will need the correct program on their machine in order to open a document.

If you have a lot of files to upload, then you can choose to upload a compressed or zipped file or to upload a Folder.

Common file types:

  • Wordprocessing (text, essays etc) doc, docx, rtf, txt
  • Data (spreadsheet, database etc): xls, xlsx
  • Presentations: ppt, pptx
These will all open on a Goldsmiths computer.
Less common file types:
  • Wordprocessing: odt (OpenOffice) pages (Mac)
  • Spreadsheet: ods, (OpenOffice)

These may not open on a Goldsmiths computer.

You should try to use the most common program for work you submit as some departments will mark a submission down for the wrong file type.  If this information is missing on an assessment or other submitted piece of work, it is always best to check with the department.
