Reports and logs on give you information on user activity on your course area. They are accessible through the Administration block in your course area but you will need Teacher role to see them.   Using this kind of data, looking at patterns in order to predict usage and performance is called Analytics and has become commonplace in online environments and increasingly in educational contexts, where it is usually referred to as Learning Analytics.

Learning Analytics makes use of digital traces left by learners in order to improve teaching and learning as well as informing the development of online environments.  Usually the data sources have to be large to generate anything meaningful but even with relatively small set of users as we have at Goldsmiths, they can be illuminating and useful. They can inform your teaching and tell you when and how users are accessing your online content.

See Reports and logs for more guidance on how you might use Analytics in your teaching at Goldsmiths.
