E-portfolio

At goldsmiths we have a tool called Mahara, but there are lots of other kinds of portfolio.  In a nutshell it is a space for staff to keep resources that may or may not relate to work or study.  The system is made of two distinct parts: a place to store content privately and the area where you can curate and collate this content to share with other people.

Advantages of using the portfolio:

  • always have access to your material as long as you have access to the internet
  • collect external content and add it to files that you have saved
  • share similar content in different ways to suit your purpose
  • control who sees what
  • limit how long something is available for

Disadvantages:

  • Can be a steep learning curve
  • Limited space for files (under review)
